Ying Hong No.9 Black Tea is a fascinating black tea made from the Ying Hong #9 cultivar, featuring a honey-floral aroma and hints of maple syrup sweetness. The texture is creamy and velvety without any astringency. The aftertaste is enduring and malty sweet.
Yinghong No.9 Tea is produced in Yingde City, Guangdong Province, China. Yinghong is short for "Yingde Black Tea", also known as "Yingteh Blacktea" or "British Black Tea". It is one of the top three black tea branches in China, alongside "keemun" and "Dian Hong". The tea soup tastes smooth, sweet, and mellow, making it particularly suitable for drinking with milk and sugar. It has been popular in Hong Kong, Macao, South East Asia, and Britain. In 1963, the Queen of England used Yingde Black Tea to serve distinguished guests at banquets.

Location: Yingde City, Guangdong Province, located near 24°N latitude, one of China's rare "black tea gold zones".
Climate: Annual average temperature of 20.7°C, rainfall of 1883mm, frost-free period of 310 days. The misty mountain areas (such as Yingxi Peak Forest) create a "warm, humid, and foggy" microclimate, ideal for accumulating tea amino acids and aromatic compounds.
Soil: Predominantly red and yellow soils rich in iron and aluminum minerals, with a pH of 4.5-5.5 (weakly acidic), imparting a unique "mineral sweetness" and rich mouthfeel to the tea.
Terrain: Rolling hills at altitudes of 100-800 meters, with a day-night temperature difference exceeding 10°C. The slow growth of tea trees results in thick leaves with abundant内在 substances.
Fresh leaves are spread on ventilated bamboo trays or withering troughs for 12-16 hours, achieving a water loss of 60-65%. This activates enzymatic reactions and establishes the tea's aromatic foundation.
Mechanical rolling for 30-40 minutes breaks leaf cells, releasing tea juices to form tight, hook-shaped pellets.
Fermented in a controlled environment of 25-30°C and humidity over 90% for 2-3 hours. This process fully develops theaflavins and thearubigins, resulting in a bright red infusion.
Initial drying at 100-120°C stops fermentation, followed by secondary drying at 80-90°C to stabilize aroma. The final moisture content is ≤6%, creating a unique flavor profile with caramel and fruity notes.
Breakfast & Afternoon Tea: Perfect as a morning pick-me-up or to accompany afternoon snacks.
Milk Tea Enthusiasts: The rich flavor stands up well to milk and sweeteners.
Bold Tea Lovers: Offers a strong yet balanced black tea experience.
Scones: The tea's malty sweetness complements the buttery richness of freshly baked scones.
Cheese Platter: Pairs wonderfully with aged cheddar or blue cheeses, enhancing the tea's creamy texture.
Dark Chocolate: The bitterness of dark chocolate balances the tea's sweetness, creating a harmonious tasting experience.
