About TeaStart
TeaStart began in China in 2005, serving restaurants and hotels in mainland China and Hong Kong. We brought the business online in 2025 to help more people find and brew Chinese loose-leaf tea with confidence.
How TeaStart began
Before there was an online store, our work centered on tea: selecting it, preparing it, and teaching people how to brew and serve it.
A student who ran a hotel once asked whether tea-service training could give people practical skills they could use for work. That question led to our first restaurant tea-service project. We supplied the tea and helped train people to prepare and serve it as part of the dining experience.
More restaurants and hotels asked for the same support. Over time, that first project grew into a business combining tea supply with practical tea education.
What we do today
Founder Leo Bai brings 36 years of tea-trade experience. TeaStart works directly with growers and production partners, visits production areas, evaluates samples, and records the product details we can verify. When information is incomplete, we leave it out instead of filling the gap with assumptions.
Our online store is designed for people who want to move beyond tea bags without being overwhelmed by specialist language. We focus on clear product information, practical brewing guidance, and smaller sizes where they are available.
Our purpose remains simple: to share happiness through tea—whether it is part of a meal, a conversation, or a quiet break.
