Make it a point to work exercise into your day, and take the time to walk, take the stairs, or bike! This concept might be easier than you think– if you want to work fitness into your day, take the stairs, bike to work (if it’s feasible!) and make time for walks on your lunch break! Even getting up to walk to the water cooler for five minutes every few hours can contribute. Fidgeting at your desk can help, too– fidgeting at work can burn up to 350 calories a day! Just getting some activity into your day can be great for your mental and physical health.
Packing snacks to take to work can prove to be a great solution to your health and fitness struggles. Bringing healthy meals to work, like peanut butter and apples, nuts and berries, or pretzels and cheese, can be a great way to combat that rush for a chocolate bar after the lunch crash! Be sure to include major macronutrients in your snacks, though– keeping protein and fiber close at hand makes for a low-calorie, filling snack that can tide you through the day better than that chocolate bar or bag of gummy worms ever could.
Adjust Your Sleep Schedule
Taking time to get up an hour early to hit the gym or go for a walk can be a great first step in getting your fitness in. Going to the gym before work is excellent– the gym is emptier, you can work out more when you’re not tired, and heading to the gym before work is a great way to wake up before that 8 am meeting! Even just going for a walk before work has a similar effect. Going for a walk in the morning helps you be more awake, more focused, and more productive at work, so it’s a win-win for everyone!
