If you’re one of the millions of Americans looking to lose weight this New Year, you’re in luck. Chipotle just released a lineup of new bowls designed to meet the Keto diet, Whole30, and paleo diets (alongside the addition of a new double protein bowl, for all of you weightlifters out there.) The Mexican-inspired fast-casual dining chain announced in a tweet on January 2 their new diet-friendly bowls.
For now, you can only order the bowls online and pick them up in store. Want to order in store? You must ask for the ingredients that come in a standard lifestyle bowl, which can get tricky. However, Chipotle has plans to gradually roll out the menu item to all of their brick-and-mortar stores later this year, similar to their unveiling of queso cheese last year. Says Chief Marketing Officer Chris Brandt, “Now more than ever, Americans are embracing new and varied approaches to healthy living and wellness. We’ve watched guests custom create lifestyle-specific bowls when ordering in our restaurants, so it made sense to offer delicious options via our online channels that help people easily order bowls with real ingredients that fit their wellness goals.”
After a rocky 2015 and 2016 amid E. coli and Norovirus concerns, the chain is bouncing back after the appointment of new CEO Brian Niccol. The release of new items, like the lifestyle bowls and queso cheese, combined with the improvements made to digital orders spell good news for the fast-casual giant.
