Challenge Apps and Websites: Fitness Done Competitively

Sure, lots of people set fitness goals. But how many meet their goals? Competition is a great motivator to get your fitness on! Need help getting started? Here are a few competition apps that you can use to get started on your goals!

30-Day Ab Challenges

While doing an ab workout every day might seem overwhelming, challenge apps, like the aptly named “30 Day Ab Challenge,” can be a fun way to get those washboard abs you’ve always wanted. Most of the workouts are relatively short, and you can do them with or without added weight, depending on your fitness level and experience. This free app is available on both Android and Apple products.

7-Minute Workout Challenge

Are you working out on a time crunch? Get those crunches in with the 7-Minute Workout Challenge. This $2.99 app has calendars, an entire library of workouts, and awards that you can win after working out consistently.

30-Day Squat Challenge

Another 30 days, another challenge. Want the glutes, hamstrings, and quads of your dreams? This app promises that working out and doing squats consistently, every day, might give you your dream butt. Think you might get bored of doing the same exercise every single day? The app offers 13 variations on the single squat so that every workout might keep you engaged. Much like the 30-Day Ab Challenge, this app is entirely free and available on both Apple and Android.

500 Bodyweight Challenge

Don’t want to compete against other people? The 500 Bodyweight Challenge lets you compete against an inanimate object–the clock. The app gives you a set of bodyweight exercises and time how long they take you to complete them. After some time, you should be able to see noticeable improvements in your timing. It’s a free app available on Apple and Android products. While getting stronger and faster isn’t always about lower times, it can be fun to see how fast you improve!

HomeWorkout: 30 Day Fitness Challenge

If you don’t want to download a new app every time you want to challenge a new part of your body, this app works well for you. HomeWorkout, also known as the 30-Day Fitness Challenge, offers a bunch of different challenges. Want to work your butt? Abs? Legs? All of them daily? This app is excellent for you.

Are you involved in a corporate wellness event? Just want to outstep your friends? inKin offers a platform for you. Compete with your friends on steps, hours of sleep, calories burned, active minutes, and distance walked. While it’s free for individual groups, it costs a variable fee for corporate wellness efforts. Unlike any of the other apps, you can connect inKin to fitness trackers and other apps to get a well-rounded fitness experience.

Couch to 5k

While many might not consider Couch to 5k as a traditional “challenge” app, it challenges you to push yourself to run a 5k! In just nine weeks, after practicing and training only three or four times a week, you should have the ability to run a 5k. The app sends reminders, has a calendar, leads you with a voice trainer, has built-in playlists, and is compatible with your Apple and Google health watches.

In Edomondo, an Under Armour app, you can compete against your friends, compete against your own PRs, or cheer on your friends! Set goals for yourself and let the trainer encourage you and tell you if you need to speed up or keep pace. Cardio can be tedious, but with the free challenge app Edmondo, you can keep your goals, challenge your friends, and work towards getting a new PR!
